The League of Women Voters Estes Park, in conjunction with the Estes Valley Library, sponsors a Great Decisions Discussion Group. All interested persons are invited to join the group. We will meet on the third Tuesday of each month through 2010. All meetings have been scheduled to meet in the Hondius Room of the Estes Valley Library. Bring a brown bag lunch and come as early as 11:30 a.m. to socialize and eat, or join us from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. and eat your lunch as we discuss. The room is reserved until 1:30 p.m. for those who wish to continue the discussion informally.
Discussion materials are developed by the Foreign Policy Association, described on their website at fpa.org. FPA is a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring the American public to learn more about the world. Founded in 1918, the Foreign Policy Association serves as a catalyst for developing awareness, understanding of, and providing informed opinions on global issues. Each year eight issues of concern to U.S. policymakers are selected for discussion; materials are designed to be impartial, balanced, and thought-provoking.
Following is the schedule for 2010 topics. Each month, a different group member will facilitate the discussion.
September 21 - The Global Financial Crisis - Facilitated by Vicky Wasinski
October 19 - Russia and its Neighbors - Facilitated by John Gilliland
November 16 - The Persian Gulf - Facilitated by Sue Magnuson
December 21 - Peace Building and Conflict Resolution - Facilitated by Bob Rose
The Hondius Room is open from 11:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m.
Each program will run from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
